Just a little note - the blog will remain on hiatus for the next few weeks. I’m in the middle of consolidating and switching formats - once thats complete a bunch’o backlogged posts will go up and everything will become current.
Who’s going to try and argue with an 80’s party? Not me. Matt, one of my associate photographers shot Kaily’s party at the Aqua Lounge in Beverly Hills. Linda Howard’s Sensational Celebrations coordinated the event and The Spazmatics kept everyone rockin’ till 2 am.
My good friend Dr. Gary Small is on the cover of the KCET Magazine this month. I had the honor of shooting the cover headshot and two inset photos of Gary and his wife Gigi.
Curtis and I ended up tag-teaming this event. I did the temple and Kiddush Luncheon photography and Curt covered the party. Emily and Charlie are bright and energetic and were a bast to work with. They performed their torah well at Temple Adat Elohim and partied-hard at their reception, at The Calamigos Ranch where Shawn from Hart to Hart provided the entertainment.
Many things were photographed during the Sichuan earthquake in China on May 12th. Images of destruction and suffering have swarmed the news, and something that has just recently surfaced are images of a Western-Style wedding in the town of Pengzhou. All images have been sourced from the New York Times website.
Decorated in a cool blue ‘n white color scheme, the Skirball Cultural Center was the setting for Griffin’s Bar Mitzvah. Griffin performed his torah in an auditorium setting before moving on to a hockey-themed reception. Carol at King Dahl Event Design handled the decor and Kevin from Milestone Productions managed the entertainment.
Shaina and Chaim enjoyed a fantastic simcha at the Universal Hilton. What made their wedding different from most was their Sheva Brocha Guestbook. Below is a collection of photos that I custom bound into a book and presented to the bride and good just 48 hours after the chuppah.
This past Spring I traveled to St John Island, in the US Virgin Islands to photograph a wedding. I spent a few days doing photography with the couple and then covered the wedding at the Caneel Bay Resort. St. John Magazine picked up the wedding and did a 12 page spread using 26 of my favorite images.
McKatie’s husband, Bobby Banuelos will be performing at the MBar May 29th. I’ve seen him before and he’s well worth the cover and the likely-overpriced drinks. Come check it out.
Sarah Ferguson, who I thanked earlier in the post The big ‘Thank You’, was in LA months ago… March I think. Anyhow she’s the one who pushed me to start this blog and pestered me constantly until it was up. Turn about is fair play I guess and it took her a similarly obscene amount of time to get this photo in my hands.
Left to right: Steve, Sarah and Yours Truly
I don’t know that its the most flattering photo of any of us, but whatever. Seeing as though our moms have known each other for nearly 40 years, I’m sure they’ll get a kick out of the pic, regardless of how goofy we all look :-p
